Cg does have it's benifits, it is cheeper and is
a better bet for most anime producers. If the
product doesn't do well, then it is not great
loss. Then again most of the cg shows i have
seen, lets have an example (Candidate for
goddess) have great looking shots, but the
animation itself is bellow par. Some scenes
remind me of the robot. I think the best results
occur when cg is mixed with cels, as in cg
backgrounds and effects with cel drawn characters.

Most often companies need to adapt their business
methods in order to remain competitive in the
market. Disney for a long time has had a market
for its cels', i mean they get about two hundred
for their reproduction's even when the animation
wasn't even done in cels! With the expanding
market (America) of animation cel's you could
possibly see a lot more componies using the
revenue from cel sales to bolster its ability to
produce better anime. The popularity of the show
would be the main market theme for the sale of
cel's, but i think that revenue incumbed from
this would probably cover only a fraction of
production costs. Then again if you have an
anime in cg that doesn't do well you run the risk
of loosing money as well. I think that cel made
animation is a form of art, and like all art
certain people will always prefer to use them in
production of movies and shows.

Different forms of art appear all the time,
ranging from oil paints to trash collected from
teh street, and some people will always use cel's
as a means to communicate their stimulating
imaginations. I am not worried about cel's
becoming a thing of the past. Computers are
great for animation, toy story and monsters inc,
but i believe that a part of animation will
always reside in cel's.

Some of disney's productions are seemless in
their animation, but those films often cost more
then animation equivalents. I mean how much did
disney spend on treasure planet, 140 million, and
it bombed. How much does ghibli spend on their
animation, i don't know that one, but their films
are still selling crazily in Japan.

blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah . . .
