I've been playing this Japanese RPG for the past
few days, called Emerald Dragon. Apparently, it
first came out around '88-89 on an obsure game
station, but was later released on PC Engine,
SFC, and some others.
Now, here's my question. For these older
platform games that used anime art for cutscenes
and stuff throughout the game, how were these
made? Did they make cels and digitize them? Or
are these completely made on computers so that
each individual game system can handle a certain
amount of data... Then, if this is true, when
did they start to use cels for games?
I'm still in the process of finding who the
character designer was for this game, but here's
a little taste of what they're like and why, if
cels do exist, I'd *love* to find them. lol
