I mean, how much do shipping costs for Global
Prio Airmail vary from state to state?
I'm not badmouthing anyone, but eg. Gambit and
Asylum charge around $17 for one standard sized
cel to me, Belgium. And sometimes, the secure
packaging is heavier than it has to be. Some
other cartoon/anime cel dealer even charged $18,
guess what, it came in a BOX, a huge one at that.
You could have shipped a not so flat flat-bed
scanner in that! A3! Umm... meow?
Absurd as I think I paid only $16 for a costume!
(Thanks, Nikki-chan~)
I never pay more than $10 when sending off cels
to anywhere. Standard size, that is. Oversized
ones vary a lot, I once only paid $11, another
time, $27, and it wasn't much heavier. Sometimes
I even think those clerks charge at will like
vets do... but dealers?
That said, I often even pay less than $10! I take
$10 because a) everyone can afford it, b) ALL
fees that may apply are covered, c)
handling/packaging is covered, too, if I use
envelopes I bought, and it's faster to give a
flat fee than hopping to the PO and have it
weighed, email back, wait for payment and hop
back to the PO.
Also, I do check stamps and postage stickers. I
rarely see more than $11 printed on them.
I really get chased off by shipping fees that
make me refrain from bidding! When ordering from
some dealers, I don't worry about being able to
afford the cel - the shipping costs worry me...
Then, Anime Game and Nii-san only take around
$10. Voilą reasonable. Same with all private
collectors I've dealt with.
And Anime-cel.com, they charge a mere $20 for a
whole bunch of cels w. BG. That, too, sounds
reasonable.
And the packaging can't possibly cost $7, can it?
Two card boards, taped together, cost nothing,
you pick them from the sidewalk... and myself, I
tend to reuse envelops a lot.
Little note at that point, check out the backyard
of your art/frames store! They throw away carton
boards and boxes, even glass for frames that
you're allowed to pick up!
I'm also curious as to why EMS from Japan is so
dirt cheap and from US and here, gross and scary.
But I guess, why ask for Why if things are good...
Goo' night
