Heeh I have experienced something similar with 
running into "glitches" in games before...  
Happened quite a while ago when I was playing 
through Dragon Force, the only Sega Saturn game 
I really played.  Anyway, I was towards the end 
of the game; I picked Wein as my main 
character...and since I typically like to beef 
up my main guy, I had him drag 100 dragons 
around with him in his individual army.  In this 
game, there are several different types of 
armies you can have; monks, fighters, archers, 
calvery, dragons, etc.  And each type has a 
weekness...  Also, the only way to increase the 
number of guys in your army is by using a rare 
item that you rarely get later in the game... (I 
think you can see where this is going...)  So, 
I'm about a main boss or two from winning the 
game, I *have to* use my main guy to fight this 
battle, only the guy I have to fight is armed 
with 100 zombies....which my dragons are 
completely weak against.  I couldn't do a 
thing.  I couldn't get any of the rare items to 
fix up my army to be stronger against zombies, 
mostly because of how close to the end of the 
game I was...  There just was no conceiveable 
way of getting past that part of the 
game........  =P  I was quite upset and never 
played it since.  hahaha  And now, when I want 
to play the game again, I can't find my 
brother's Saturn.  =P  I have the game right 
here with me, but nothing to play it on...  I 
wouldn't suppose any of you know of a working 
Saturn emulator, right?  hahaha

Anyway, here's one of my fav fighting pan cels

your frustration wears off enough to ALLOW 
yourself to play it again...heehee  At least 
your husband didn't intentionally delete your 
save file to let a friend save a 5 minute game  
when your save file had all your characters up 
to level 99 with 70+ hours logged on it....  
heehhhhh  I couldn't play Chrono Trigger for a 
LONG time after that happened....  =P
