Pretty much everyone's responce I agree with. As
a mother of twin 5 1/2 year old girls I too find
that instead of sheilding them I let them
experience different series (to an extent) My
girls even help me decide on what cels to pic on
occasion from specila series. I find that hiding
things or avoiding things that are a part of
normal every day life just makes for more
questions. The more complicated it gets and the
more rushed and forced the reply and explinations
are.
My daughters have already seen:
Sailor Moon, Marmalde boy, Fushigi Yuugi, Card
Captor Sakura, D.N. Angel, Princess Tutu and
several other series (including All but 2 of
Miyizaki's works.
It's always good to get opinions but you can also
view a little at a time with just you and/or
spouse and then decide if it's appropriate for
the kids to watch. It's really refreshing to view
something so different then one's own cultural
aspects.
