I've never felt any urge to collect only from one 
series. The bulk of my collection does happen to 
be from a relatively limited number of shows 
considering the number of shows from which I have 
cels. (Miyu, Hameln, Psychic Force, Nightwalker, 
and Eatman are probably the top five series in my 
collection, although I've never done any math to 
prove it.)

The only thing I did have in mind when I started 
collecting was that I was only going to collect 
from shows that I'd seen. This has been mostly 
successful since I've bought only four "unknown 
cels" over the years. (There are more in my 
collection, but the rest were gifts or freebies I 
decided to keep.) For the most part, there are 
more than plenty cels from things I *have* seen 
for me to bother with "unknowns".

One thing that has changed with my collecting is 
that originally, I only bought one cel of each 
character I liked. At the time, I wasn't really 
sure why some people seemed to want so many cels 
of the same character. Originally, the only 
character I had duplicate cels of was Miyu, and 
that was because I had one of her alone and 
several of her with other characters. Then 
Psychic Force cels became available, and (through 
an unusual situation) I got many different cels 
of several characters. Somehow, that was the end 
of the "one cel of each character" collecting 
strategy. . . But not just that, since it was 
about the same time that I learned how to hang my 
cel books in the closet. Before then, I used to 
be **MUCH** pickier when buying cels because 
storage was a such a huge problem. After storage 
was a non-issue, I collected many more cels than 
I would have otherwise. Lacking a solution to the 
storage problem, I have no doubt my collection 
would be less than 1/4 the size it is now.

But for the series I collect aggressively, I do 
have some "goals" that have formed. For example, 
with Miyu, Nightwalker, and Eatman, my "goal" is 
to find one complete cel from each episode (all 
layers, backgrounds and forgrounds). Also for 
Miyu, is to find two cels of each of the shinma 
(one of each of the shinma's forms). The "goal" 
for Psychic Force is to find one complete cel of 
each character. Etc, etc, etc. . . These aren't 
hard and fast goals -- I won't buy a cel I don't 
like simply because it meets a "goal" -- it's 
just something I keep track of for fun. ^_^
