I've had a couple cels framed in much the same
way one would frame a photographic transparency:
Leave it in the bag and mount the bag to the
matting by a couple pieces of tape at the top so
that it hangs freely. This seems to work well;
it puts no stress on the cel, I think I saw that
method mentioned on some of the online cel
framing tutorials, and by explaining it in terms
of a transparency I know that the framer and I
are talking about the same thing.
Now, however, I have a couple of cels with
backgrounds that I would like framed and it
doesn't look like this method will work. The
backgrounds are significantly larger than the
cels so I don't think the whole thing would fit
in a bag. Besides, I doubt the setup would look
very good with a bag covering the cel to keep it
from adhering to the background and another bag
over the whole thing. That's a lot of stuff
between the viewer and the image.
So, does anybody have suggestions on how to frame
a cel with its background? None of the online
tutorials I found have mentioned backgrounds.
Thanks much,
