Usually you don't need to have all your 
thumbnails the exact same size... depending on 
your gallery layout, why not just pick one 
dimension for them to all be the same.  For 
example, in my gallery, all my thumbnails are 200 
pixels wide, but the hieghts vary, usually only 
by 2 or 3 pixels (except for pan cels of course)
