weird, its quite cool!  The late 70's, early-mid 
80's seem to be the Space Exploration/Sci-
Fi/Mecha period of Japanese anime - with shows 
like Gatchaman, Golion, Dariugger XV, Macross - I 
think the combination was an interesing one and I 
wish we'd see more of it now.
