I've read many of the posts in the past about the
pros/cons of framing, but I've come up with an
idea for displaying a cel that would require some
rather unique considerations in framing. The
first thing to note here is that the cel that I
would be framing would only be one bought
specifically for the purposes of this project and
wouldn't be of much value except that it fits in
with what I'm doing. Not going to give too many
details on that now, but here's the basics on
which I could use some advice:
a. I'd like to make a frame out of plexiglas, the
thinner the better, which would allow visibility
all the way through (ie: plexiglas in front &
back, exploiting the transparent property of cels)
b. I'd like to display this with lighting coming
from behind -- I know sunlight is a very, very
bad thing, but does anyone know the relative
dangers of things like led's, cold cathodes, or
neon lighting? (or if there's any factors
depending on the coloration of said lighting?)
Keep in mind that the primary light source would
be coming from _behind_ the cel, not the front,
so it might be more of an issue of what it would
do to paint rather than line fading.
Sorry if this is really vague, but I don't really
want to let the cat out of the bag too soon,
since I'm not sure how long this will take to
finish (might hear about it again in a few
months).
