Oh no, really? :( He was my first real 
idol/inspiration as a kid. I've got a handwritten 
letter and drawing from him that I'll always 
treasure. 

As someone else mentioned, at least he did indeed 
make the best use of his time. He accomplished so 
much and he never lost his edge.
