Hi Everyone!
Thank you all so much for your replies to my
posting :) All of your information really helped
me!
The cel that I am seriously considering spending
around $1000 for is a very beautiful Battle Angel
Alita (AKA Gunnm) cel. It's from my favorite
scene in the entire movie :)
What I meant when I said that someone could
possibly turn a $5 cel into a $500 cel was
someone could take a really crappy cel from Gunnm
for example, clean the cel, erase the pencil
sketch, and in turn create a beautiful A-1 head
shot of Gally. Then the cel would have the
correct paper etc.
Anyway, the main reason that I posted my question
was because I think that I may have been suckered
into buying a fake cel that someone tried to pass
on as a real one :(
I paid around $245 or something for this cel.

better ones :)
It came from Battle Angel. Since then (Around
December 2001) I bought 2 more Battle Angel
cel's, The most amazing cel of Greweicia with a
even more wonderful pencil sketch (My best deal
ever!), and other pretty one of Gally also with a
pencil sketch.
Well the other day I brought out my cel's (I have
4 lol :) to admire them and noticed something
strange about this one:
1. If you look at the pencil sketch of the one I
think is fake in comparison to the other 2 I
noticed that the pencil sketch paper on
the "fake" one is really thin. The pencil
sketch's to my other 3 cel's (2 Gunnm and 1 from
Galaxy Express) are like normal paper. They're
heaver
2. Another thing that bugged me is that on all of
the Gunnm cel's/pencil sketches that I've seen
(And all of the other cel's) are the holes on the
top. The center is a circle, and the 2 side one's
are oval looking things. BUT on the pencil sketch
of the "fake" cel, instead of oval things, it has
rectangles!!! (The holes on the cel itself are
oval things :)
3. When you turn the cel over it has residue of a
stuck pencil sketch in some places. But when you
look at the pencil sketch, there is absolutely no
tearing or residue. I know the from my testing
of "Detaching" the cel's from their sketches, you
can always see where it was attached on the
pencil sketch.
