What is the point of having a secret reserve
price at all if you're going to list what it is?
Why have a reserve price in the first place? I've
heard people say that a low starting bid draws
people to look at the auction. But once a few
bids get put in and the price is now high with no
reserve met. . . That just makes people turn away.
Me, I don't like reserve prices on auctions for
the same reason I don't like a page full of "make
offers" instead of prices when people announce
cels are for "sale". If you have a cel, you know
what you paid for it and/or what it's worth to
you. So show some balls and put a price tag on
it. Otherwise, as far as I'm concerned, it's not
*REALLY* for sale.
(Mind also, I think there are cases when putting
a cel up for offers is legitamate, but a cel has
to be a certain *HIGH* calibur before it's worthy
of a "make offer" notation. Low priced series,
closed-eyes cels, turned away characters, small
images. . . None of those are worthy of "make
offers", in my mind. . . Or of reserve prices.)
