Hello all,
I woke up this morning all excited because of some
auctions that had ended just before I got up. I
went to bed with the high bids, and when I got up,
I'd been outbid on each and every one. -_- Bummer.
Well, still stinging with disappointment, I got a
mail from a dear friend of mine kindly pointing
out that the auctions I'd bid on were run by
Celga, and since it's well known that I work for
Celga, it appeared that I was bidding up the
price. I was shocked. That had never even occurred
to me. So, I thought I would let everyone know a
little bit about Celga policy when it comes to
employees.
We don't get any dibs. If a customer asks for
something first, we have to be in line just like
everyone else. In a Silent Auction, if we want
something, we have to bid on it. Likewise any
other sort of auction. Celga has two sides, the
Japanese sellers and the US (or worldwide) buyers.
When Celga is representing the Japanese sellers,
they can't give any favoritism to anyone,
employees or no, because their goal is to get the
best price for the seller.
I think pretty much everyone around here knows
what kind of maniac Tenchi otaku I am. I bid on
these auctions because I BLOODY WANTED THEM! I was
really disappointed when I didn't win, and then
horrified that it could be construed that I was
artificially inflating prices. That is absolutely
not the case. Celga would NEVER do that.
I just wanted to go public with this because
there's at least one person out there who had
their doubts. The only way a Celga employee can
get an auction run in the US by Celga is to bid.
And (I hate to break it to you) all the US Celga
employees are rabid cel collectors. That's why we
work for them! So, I hope this lays to rest any
questions anyone has about this situation.
Peace
