I read the manga translation I think (ayashi.net) 
a long time ago, and I do remember the story 
being much longer.  I did think the secret of 
touya and the hagoromo (will try not spoil it for 
others) was pretty sad.  I started trying to 
think of it similarly to rei ayanami in 
evangelion, whose soul was said to come from 
water and light, and so I was a little more 
accepting, but frankly all the pictures I've seen 
of baby touya are just ridiculous, and make it 
hard for me to take the series seriously, as it 
really is a drama.  :)
