Owernship of cels vs. copyrighted images (Tue Dec 11 08:45:31 2001 )

Maybe someone with a legal background can clear
this up for me --- if I own a cel, am I allowed
to make a copy of it and display it? Do I
really "own" the image, or does the studio that
owns the copyright on the series my cel is from?

I suppose the same question would apply to
someone who owned the original manuscript of a
book that was in print --- would they be allowed
to reproduce the manuscript or would that violate
the copyright that the publishing company has on
the printed version of the book?

Not that I think anyone is going to sue me over
my gallery of cels, but if I wanted to make a
poster, or a t-shirt of an image that I own,
would that infringe on someone else's copyright?

Let me know if you know.
Thanks.
John
