Maybe its just me.... but if I had ALL my layers
seperated, under all these layers of plastic... I
wouldn't enjoy my cels. I'd feel like one of
those people who buys comic books and then never
reads them even once because they don't want to
damage them.
I try to take the best care of my cels as I can,
but I AM going to enjoy them. And right now, if
that means just keeping them in the book the way
they are, well... I guess thats how they will be
for now. Please don't think I'm a neglectful
owner, because I'm not. I'm conscious about
washing my hands, I'm conscious about making sure
my books aren't too heavy and finding someplace
to store them vertically if I have to... and I
have intentions to one day get just about every
single one of them professionally framed.
But I'm not going to be afraid of my own shadow
and I'm not going to treat them as if they will
turn to dust at any moment. Because they
won't. :) They are plastic painted with plastic,
not centuries old manuscripts. ^_^ Hell, I still
treat my cels far better then my 2500 year old
Egyptian beaded bracelet! *smiles*
Cels are art after all, so they deserve to be
shown, seen, and MOST importantly: Enjoyed. And
with the way I have them at the moment, they can
breath... plus they aren't tightly wrapped, but
are secure in an archival book. They are easier
to check up on as well - and hey, if they're
going to stick to something they are going to
stick to something - even if its the very bags
you're storing them in. Its just this way I can
go through every 6 months or whatever, make sure
they're all happy and unstuck... and I don't have
to mess with the bags which you're supposed to
change frequently anyways.
Call it flawed thinking, but thats just how I
feel at the moment. I might change my mind down
the road... or I might have a wall covered in
framed cels. :)
