Howdy. I'm the admin guy at Rubberslug.
I confess, I've been bad. I haven't been keeping
track of the conversation that's been going on
here. Special thanks goes out to Flipyon and my
other friends at RS who clued me into this
discussion. So, if possible, I'd like to help out
and answer some questions.
Rubberslug hosts cel galleries. Free -- unless we
start pulling down 300k/s. We'll worry about this
when we have to. (at least 150 galleries) For
now, it's not even close. Bandwidth is a little
cheaper than Geocities would have you believe.
Hard drives are cheap too. The 80+ total
galleries and 1500+ cel images on the site don't
even pass 50M.
How do you make a gallery? It can be as simple as
uploading some cel images via a form and
attaching some information to them. There's very
simple templates that can make a quick cel
catalog for you, divided into catagories. Today,
some folks were up and running within 15-20
minutes as I was tinkering on the site.
On the advanced side, that simple template can be
broken up like Lego blocks. You can replace just
about every piece of the template and make it
look completely different. The reason the default
template looks kinda plain is because it's easier
to modify than one of those goofy "baseball
themed" or "business themed" templates on other
free homepage places that I'm sure you probably
hate by now. You can add HTML, too. You can
instantly make thumbnails (JPG only!), attach
sketches, add detailed wishlist, and control
almost everything in the site layout.
We rely on user-feedback to create new features
for the site, which probably explains how we've
made lots of new friends. (Thanks for the
compliments and suggestions, everyone!)
If you scroll down a bit to the other thread
about Rubberslug, I've posted some answers to the
questions people are asking. If this whole
Rubberslug thing is still a bit fuzzy, you might
be able to get a better idea of what we're about
if you read on.
If you're ready to give it a whirl, click here. Our page will
open in a new window. See you there, and thanks
for reading.
Cheers,
jn
ps - Special thanks to Anime-Taro for creating
the unofficial link banner. I just remembered
when I placed that order this morning that I
never e-mailed you back one. I'm a doofus...
sorry. =/ |
