First of all, I am a late-coming FY collector who
*adores* Hotohori. So, of course I paid attention
when Leigh posted! Now, that out of the way...
(Forgive me if my assumption about gender is
wrong, paint my face red and flip the pronouns!)
I've been a little sad ever since Leigh told the
forum she was dissolving her collection. In one
way, it's a good thing; even though I was way out
of my comfort zone for spending money on cels,
others were not, and dreamlist cels are now
eagerly awaited by many.
In another, how very sad. Our galleries are
borrowed glory. We (with notable exceptions!)
didn't draw or paint the cels. But...we selected
them. Each one has a story. There are the ones
that we simply don't believe we actually have, the
ones we struggled in some way to get, the ones
that fell like gifts from heaven into our laps and
the consolation cels that stands for the ones we
really want.
Leigh's eye for cels is amazing! Her cels are
dramatic, meaningful and utterly beautiful in and
of themselves. Think about it, how many people
are elated to receive even one cel from her
gallery? She had them all and together what an
amazing gallery it was! How sad that even though
each individual cel still exists (and those cels
will highlight and enhance numerous other
galleries now) that THAT gallery, Leigh's gallery,
is soon to be no more.
To everything there is a season. I guess, maybe
I'm mourning the passing of Leigh's gallery.
All the best to you, Leigh, in the new season in
your life. May you be as astonishingly successful
in it as you were in cel collecting!
