HOARD cels and claim they aren't for sale. Excuse
me if what I write sounds pessimistic or
capitalistic in nature but few things in life ARE
NOT FOR SALE to say so is the furthest thing from
the truth! Human organs are FOR SALE so are
CHILDREN and the list goes on for materialistic
things or considerable value as well: wine,
paintings, houses, et al. What irks myself is
when people claim things aren't for sale, that is
bull. IMHO I am not saying you cannot sell it for
a profit or for a signigicantly higher price than
what you paid for thats completely fine and in
many ways might justify letting go or something
that may or may not have emotional or
materialistic value. My point is that people who
do have HUGE collections ought to at least
entertain reasonable offers, the worst the
collector can say is sorry that offer is too low.
But by making it available and not using a
blanket statement like NOT FOR SALE, you give
other collectors an opportunity "a chance" to
purchase a cel that might otherwise not be
available in the extremely shaddy cel market.
Agree or disagree in any event take it with a
grain of salt. And just to answer the original
question for this thread, IMO the reselling of
cels is fine how else do the dealers like Yannm
Rick or Curt get em to sell to us in the US?
However the blantant jacking up or if you prefer
the nicer phrasing "mark up" at 50% or higher of
prices for cels is quite wrong and does help in
the corruption of selling cels. Splashpage anime
is also guilty of this, but tis the nature of
cels, unless you go directly to Japan and hunt
and hunt, and even then if and when you find some
cels worthy of your money, odds are they'll
probably have been marked up too. |
