To me they look like either scans from an X 
Settei book, or the xeroxes you see sometimes 
made from the originals which are passed around 
to the animators to keep the style/heights the 
same for characters. 

I don't know tho since I can't read a lick of 
japanese and have never seen such a book before. 
I have seen xeroxes of this sort from Lodoss OVA 
once before tho.
