One of two thigns happened. Either:
A) The person you contacted was mad about being
contacted and reported you to Ebay.
B) Ebay themselves caught your message and is
slapping your hand for trying to start a deal
outside of Ebay.
I would guess that "A" is more likely. I think
reporting someone for contacting a person is
lame - I've both written to people and had people
write to me. But Ebay doesn't allow that, and so
you run the risk that you've written to a stick-
in-the-mud who will tattle on you.
When you write to someone in the future, I would
definitely make it so that Ebay themselves can't
spy on you. When I write to a seller or high
bidder, the message I send through Ebay's system
is nothing more than this:
"I have a question to ask you about auction #XXX.
Please contact me at myaddy@myaddy.net if you
would be willing to talk to me."
That way, Ebay can't accuse you of something
wrong if they see the message (the only reason
they keep that crappy message system is because
people have to ask each other questions) and the
other person can't report you for doing something
that's not allowed. If they write back, it means
they've indicated that they want to hear what you
have to say. (Sticks-in-the-mud are the ones who
won't write back. ^_~)
It's too bad your offer for the copy background
wasn't successful. . . But then there are a lot
of people (I'm one of them) who do not like to
have copies made of their cel backgrounds. I have
made only one copy in the past for a very close
friend - and then only under the promise that it
will be destroyed if she ever sells the cel it
matches. I wouldn't make one just because someone
asked me to. So I can see the other person's
perspective. (But it's still lame that they
reported you! ~_~)
