I worked in a frame shop for a year, and now I
work in a art supply store that does framing.
Trust me on this, if they don't know how to do
it, and this is thier "first", it will be screwed
up. If this cel means enough to you to spend $$
on framing, you need to do your research to find
a place that KNOWS how to do it. Micheal's makes
me nervous for a lot of reasons. :#
Here's my recommendation: Look around, a lot. Art
supply stores often have a framing department.
Also, there are specialty framing places (where
that is all they do), and ALSO, if you can find
one... Animation art gallery's usually frame cels
very well.
If you CAN"T find any place at all except
Micheals, then research how animation art is
framed (magazines, websites, other people... even
call galleries..) and ASK how it is done. Have
Micheal's speak to those people that know.
Conservation framing is the technical term. It
cost's more.. but you will be happy when you take
the cel out in 15 years. And I recommend 110% to
get CONSERVATION glass (it blocks out UV rays by
almost 100%). And also note: Acetate needs to
breath - so that takes part in the framing
process also. You don't want the cel touching the
glass AT ALL. Get matting!
Good luck, email me if you have any more
questions.^.~
