Elfquest *is* their property. Yeah its fanart,
and thats totally cool, but selling it aint.
Japan has a VERY different view on fanart than
the US.
The Pini's are an independent comic, therefore,
Elfquest truly is their bread and butter. If
they let one piece go on the market with their
consent, then everyone else will wanna do fanart
and sell it.
I dunno about the letter since I havent seen it
but usually they're form letters. They're
usually not hand written. So dont take it
personally. Richard and Wendy are great folks,
but they do get overprotective of their babies.
I mean, wouldn't you?
Its sorta like, what if someone took your *best*
design you ever did, and then started selling it
for moolah to folks.
What you may want to do is talk to the Pinis
about getting their permission to create the cels
and then sell them for MORE and let them have a
cut? Your skills are very good, and you never
know...... ya know?
But dont let that ruin yer day, is a great cel...
