Re: OH My Goddess Cels (OVA and Movie) question? (Tue Oct 16 07:42:17 2001 )

**I've seen some Goddess cels around, and wanted
to know if all the PRODUCTIon cels have cel
sequence #s?**

As far as I know, all the production cels should
have sequence numbers (but it's an easy matter to
remove them with a solvent such as ethanol,
although I don't know why someone would do
that). On the other hand, many of the OVA
reproduction cels also have some numbering on
them, and even if they didn't, it's easy enough
for someone to add them with a marking pen.
Typically the only way to be fairly certain that
an AMG OVA cel is a production cel is to compare
it to the source material (and even then the
differences can sometimes be hard to detect). It
helps to purchase cels from a seller who is
knowledgeable. So far, all cels from the AMG
movie appear to be production cels.

**Also do they have a stamp on them that says AIC?
What does the stamp mean? IS it still a
production cel?**

In recent years, AIC has stamped many of the cels
from its series, I guess to indicate that they
are authentic (although I have an El Hazard cel
that did not appear in the video that has an AIC
stamp). The studio released most of the AMG OVA
cels before it started using the stamp, but some
do have it (I have a couple of stamped cels).
Many of the AMG movie cels have the stamp, but
many don't. I'm pretty sure that some of the
unstamped movie cels walked out of the studio
through means that were not sanctioned by the
studio. It's also possible that AIC just doesn't
bother stamping all the cels.
