Hey, there. The topic of fancels came up, and I
was wondering.
A while back ago, I was trying my hand at making
a fancel of a character I loved who never made it
into the anime series to which he belonged. It
was just one of those things for my own
amusement. ^_^ I used acetate and acrylic paints--
and I tried several different brands of acrylics-
- but I kept having the same problem happen.
My paint, when it dried, would crack. I'd paint
over it with a new layer, and it would fill part
of the cracks in, but there would always be
cracks left over, until I got to the point where
there were so many layers of paint on the reverse
side that I couldn't reach the cracks anymore to
fill them in. :o( I got discouraged, and set the
project aside, but have been thinking about doing
some more experimenting.
My question-- has anybody who has made a fancel
ever experienced the cracking-paint problem? How
did you solve it? If not, what brand of acetate
do you use, and what brand of paint have you had
success with? I'm thinking it might've been my
acetate, because a number of different brands
would crack... but then again, it might've just
been a color thing, because some colors were more
prone to cracking than others. And I tried
experimenting with thinning the paints, to see if
that would make an impact. Of course, it didn't.
Any guidance? :o)
Thanks!
