Howdy.  I was in the same boat last April.  My 
first Con, overnight stay, rooming with two 
strangers.  Luckily, the strangers turned out to 
be two TOTALLY COOL members of this forum (ix and 
emika), and they both brought cels worth about 
194.5x more than my collection at the time!  lol!

I'd say it just depends on how much you trust your 
roomies (assuming you are staying overnight at the 
hotel).  I don't imagine that the maid will steal 
your cels, so you just have to worry about your 
bunkmates.  Like any valuable in a hotel, take 
basic precautions like keeping them out of sight 
and you should be fine.
