I agree with you, and we have to remember that 
there is a culture difference here. 

We, being those of us who are American, have a 
*very* different culture and perspective on 
things than the Japanese. I can remember from by 
business classes in college all of the blunders 
US companies made over there, and some of the 
mistakes the Japanese made here simply because we 
look at things differently.
