If you only saw this sequence in the movie, you 
wouldn't know that Washu is wearing shorts.

(Took forever to figure how to get proper screen 
caps from anamorphic DVDs.  The shrunken screen 
cap is no where indicative of the quality of 
anamorphic DVDs.)
