That's one of the reasons I adore her so much... 
I'm SUCH a sucker for tragic villains!

And this is where anime beats the heck out of 
Western animation in general... their "bad guys" 
aren't just two dimensional characters whose sole 
purpose is being annoying to the heroes.  These 
are PEOPLE, doing things that you or I might 
easily imagine doing in the same situation.

Poor Alcionne.  She's just following her heart, 
and doing what she HAS to.  She's even more 
interesting in the second season, when they 
explore the character a bit more.  Good stuff -- I 
just LOVE this show!!
