Under no circumstances am I questioning the
integrity of the seller, nor do I begrudge her
the price she is asking. It's her right to ask
whatever she wants for her property. To assume,
however, that a buyer who may or may not have as
much experience as she is able to discern the
price [she] feels is fair is foolish.
I have been collecting all manner of things
for over 15 years (art, watches, etc). In an
arena such as this, in which the item in question
has NO known, absolute value, the seller must
specify what they are willing to accept. Never
before, in all my years of collecting, have I
encountered a market in which pricing is such a
taboo. I'm sure that the seller has a price she
wants for her cels. Is it too much to ask to
know (at least in general) what that price is? I
think not.
Since I know this message is a bit rambling,
I will make my concluding statements briefly. In
no way was I attempting to disparage the seller
of these cels. I'm merely stating a point of
view. Everything in this world has a price.
Misa, I'm SURE has a price in mind for these
cels. Her price is neither ridiculous nor is it
insane. Any price she sets is fair as long as
someone is willing to pay it. But the fact
remains that when she insinuates that someone
else is foolish for offering a mere $50 for her
precious cels, it insults the intelligence of
everyone else here. Offering $50 for a Rembrandt
is insulting (because a Rembrandt has an
established value!), but DBZ cels often sell for
that (irregardless of character). If you want
$350, then ask for it. If you're not willing to
at least offer the basest guidance as to what you
expect from a cel, then don't demean those who
may see the value of your items differently. Oh,
and setting a $9.95 opening price for the cel
doesn't help your case. Just think: "What if
your cels had sold for ten dollars?" Thank you
for listening to my ramblings, no longer
anonymous. |
