Hello, I thought I'd add my bit ^_^

I've been keeping records by spreadsheet for a
while now. I keep name of series, short
description, condition information, if it comes
with a sketch, what sequence numbers it is, how
many layers, if it's key, background and forground
information, date bought (or rough estimate in
some cases), episode number (if I know it at the
time), the dealer I bought it from, price, and
current ballpark market price should anything have
really changed (for insurance purposes, I try to
be fair... I never want to _use_ this column
-_-;). I also keep fun stats for myself like what
percentage of my collection is a certain series
(well, that needs some updating) and what
percentage of my collection did I buy for the
'male' character. I have a separate sheet for
items I have sold, one for current transactons,
and one for anime items/toys.

I think there are many good reasons to do this.
One, I find the statistics kind of entertaining
and I suppose one needs to be reminded of the
number at the very bottom. I also think it's good
practice for remembering things about cels should
you be speaking of them or should someone ask you
about them. I wouldn't want to mislead anyone if
I misremembered, even by only $5. That way if
someone asks "Where did you get that cel?" I can
say something like "Oh from Nichibei a year ago"
and maybe point them in the right direction. It's
also interesting to keep track of cel prices with
respect to time with some hard data other than
"just feel" though... I haven't really graphed it
out myself yet, but I would think it was a good
idea. Finally, I don't know how everyone's
insurance works, but I would like to have a record
such as this in case the unthinkable happens.
