I know that for my fish page, the way that I make 
the mouseovers "instant" is to pre-load all the 
pictures. (Meaning, set it up so all the pictures 
load in advance before the page is displayed.) 
That way, by the time anyone sees the first 
photos, the second ones will be loaded already 
and there will be no wait when they put the mouse 
over the picture of the cel.

Go see the source code on my fish's page (at the 
given URL) to see what I mean. It's actually 
pretty simple to do.
