. . . That no one will help you. The Nausicaa
cel "incident" proves clearly enough that even
when someone is obviously fraudulently selling a
cel they do not own, there is no one in power, so
to speak, who will bother to try and stop them.
I'll bet if you hired a lawyer and made a big
stink about it, you could probably get the person
in *some* trouble. . . But only for making money
off a copyrighted image for which they do not
hold the copyright. They would most likely not
get in trouble because they were using your scan.
(Unless the subject of the scan was an original
piece of artwork produced by yourself.)
And I'm sorry, but I would have a problem with
seeing my cel images plastered all over cheaply
made mousepads and T-shirts. First because it
bothers me to see people selling (and buying)
unlicenced merchandise. I believe in supporting
the people who *MADE* the shows I like so that
they continue to create more wonderful shows. And
second because if I wanted a common, stock
picture of a character, I would go buy a poster
for ten bucks - not a cel for hundreds. After
making it a point to obtain images of my favorite
characters that are *NOT* stock images, I have no
interest in seeing those images turned into stock
images by "Ding-Dong Moron" who's only achievement
has been figuring out how to run a mousepad
through a printer.
