Hello again. I just need help with cel
terminology regarding the different types of cels.
Like, on the tenchi cel scan page on my site:
http://www-
personal.umich.edu/~tdkim/cel/tenchi.html
I have an oversized Mihoshi cel that measures 10"
x 15.5". Is it simply called a pan cel or
panning cel, or I am just way off entirely?
On the cel I labelled Washu #4, I didn't even
notice it was 2 layers (I know the dealer didn't
know it was 2 layers.) until just now. The
second layer on top doesn't have a cel marking,
but after careful inspection, I could see that
the second cel just has shadows and the green
blob. The main cel is just black under the green
stuff. Now, is the second cel just called an
overlay, special effects overlay, or something
else completely different?
Next is a question about backgrounds. The Washu
#5 scan, I think has 3 background layers. Both
the sky (labeled 33) and school (unlabeled) are
on cardboard, but the flag pole (blocked by
Washu) was painted on an unlabeled cel. Should I
consider the unlabeled flag pole cel part of the
background or with the foreground since it's
technically on a cel?
Lastly but not least. . .I need help identifying
which episodes, let alone series some of those
cels are from, heh. I've never seen Pretty Sammy
before, so that may be why I can't do a postive
ID on some of them. (I knew Washu #4 was from
episode #3 because of screen shot captures on
washu.org).
Thanks for any comments or responses you may have.
