For anyone who hasn't heard, the US postal rates
are increasing January 7th (I'm pretty sure
that's the exact date). I just laid hands on a
chart of *all* the new rates and thought I would
post some of the new prices that effect us (given
our habits of insuring and mailing around flat
pieces of plastic ^_^). This is for others who
aren't as fortunate to have this handy little
chart (the figure in parenthasis is amount of the
increase over what we have now):
Domes. mail base rate -> $ .34 ( .01)
IPMOs -> $3.25 ( .25)
Intern. airmail to Can/Mex -> $ .60 ( .00)
Intern. airmail to anywhere else -> $ .80 ( .20)
Priority to 1lb -> $3.50 ( .30)
Priority to 2lbs (and flat rate) -> $3.95 (N/A)
Insurance for up to $50 -> $1.10 ( .25)
Insurance for $50.01 to $100 -> $2.00 ( ???)
Additional insurance over $100 can be bought for
$1 per $100 increment (which I believe is the same
as what we have now - so only the insurance base
rate has changed).
The only bonus we seem to have is that they have
actually *lowered* the money order rate for
domestic money orders to 75 cents instead of 80
cents. Whoopee. (Don't everyone get excited too
fast now. ~_~)
This information is straight from the USPS
themselves and should be correct, assuming no
typos on my chart. (Insert normal disclaimers of
my not being responsible for typos and such.)
This has been a public service announcement. I
now return you to your regularly scheduled Forum
still in progress. ^_~
