For Mac, you need to get a software called Japanese Language Kit (OS9 comes with it though)
It doesn't "translate" the language, it's a program that
let's you read and write Japanese.  It can also run some
native Japanese software programs.  And, it's a bit of a
memory hog.  So if you don't want your Mac to crash, get
more memory.
