I want to note that I believe in capitalism, and
that there is nothing wrong with capitalism,
but the main prob I see is a few small "dealers"
who buy things from Taro or other sites on the
'net to re-sell it the second they get it.
Whenever I have resold things within the first
month of buying them I offered it at the price
I bought it for. I am all for more dealers, but
once it's been exposed to our community Puh-lease
at least hold onto it for a few months. Often
I'm just glad to see cels I missed for sale
again. I mean we can choose not to buy it right?
Today I searched the occasional cel dealers pages
and I saw a lot of the cels I missed...a lot at
outlandish prices. I archive cel images with
price on my hard drive so I can truly think
"I have seen this before...for a lot less." I
think if more people could afford to directly
import cels from Japan we wouldn't see the same
cels over and over. We are so tight knit a
community that there is not much new under the
sun. There are not enough good cels to meet
the demand and we are griping because we miss
more times than we hit lately. We created a
resale market and it's probably here to stay. I
just wish more could see things the way I do:
That resaling Taro cels doesn't make you a
dealer. I want to stress I am not accusing any
of the dealers commonly seen on Cel.org,Yann,
Mangaya, Hobby Shop K, Chaos, Noriko's, etc
of any bad things. I see the small time EBayers
and smaller sale pages (not clearing out
collection
pages, but "mini-dealers", not all, a very few)
marking up cels I KNOW are from Taro, Animanga,
Anime-Cel.com that were posted and are for sale
again 3 weeks later for two or three times the
price. But this is just my opinion and
its a free economy. I guess all we can do is
choose not to buy from those we have a problem
with. Maybe we should stop griping and just take
action that way. Of course who will take the
first step? |
