Dear Oion,
I have no idea how old it is! It was already
ancient when I was in graduate school @_@, and
that was 6 years ago! My guess is it is AT LEAST
15 years old. Heck, there are computers running
around in the department that are older than me
@_@ which are STILL being used as terminals for
students to use. I know my professor finally had
to dump an old switchboard computer system that
he was using for a lab though, and that thing is
at least 20 years older than me @_@!
I was a pure UNIX person before I became a
graduate student, but I have come to love the old
VMS thing despite things. Probably the only
reason it's still around is because there are
still many professors there that DO NOT want to
switch over to the UNIX system @_@ since they are
too used to the VMS system.
Well, at least no one writes viruses for it, PLUS
my e-mail can never get infected since it can't
receive pictures or attachments! Plus, it's
free of Microsoft!
Sincerely,
Sonia |
