Hi everyone,
I have a question about line fading...
I've heard that sometime during the 1990's,
anime studios stoppped paiting the lines onto
cels by hand and began xeroxing the lines on.
I have several cels that were likely created
by hand painting the lines, but most of my
cels (from Marmalade Boy) obviously had the
lines xeroxed on. I noticed that on the xeroxed
cels, there is line fading EVERYWHERE, but on the
presumably hand drawn ones, there is no sign at
all that they will fade. This may be a fairly
obvious question to someone who has been a
collector for awhile, but I've never heard the
answer to this before... is it just a fact that
hand painted lines are a LOT less likely to fade
than xeroxed ones?
thanks!
