Dear Alex,

I just logged in today and read all the forum posts since I
last visited (Sunday).  Whoever posted that insult about
you is just an inconsiderate bully who has no idea about the
concept of English names.  For me, I get those type of
insults regularly because of the way I dress (sort of like
Haruka/Sailor Uranus), and it really got bad when I tried
working in a middle school full of kids with learning
disorders (ADD, AHD, etc. all those attention deficit
disorders) who liked to harrass me constantly (One of them
called me 'Pat' after that Saturday Night Live character.)
AND they had a dean who supported the kids' side of the
argument instead of the faculty.  My supervisor supported me
100% though (and he was one tough looking guy!)!  I
eventually quit when they discoutinued my position, but I
am NEVER going to work there again!  It was like going
through my teen years all over again (I got picked on by
several cliques when I was that age.).  In any case, there
is almost no way to get through to these people, although
sometimes I do try (I have this aggressive/passive streak
when dealing with bullies.).

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know, that I understand
why you reacted the way that you do (I do it all the time),
and it's perfectly understandable especially if people try
to see it from your point of view (if they try that is).
You really don't need to apologize, especially since you
can tell if it was an insult or just an honest mistake.

I'm just sorry to see the forum degrade to this especially
at this time of year.  Must be that Y2K thing.
