More questions on making of cels :) (Mon Feb 21 09:14:30 2000

I was wondering how the paint lines on -top- of the cels were made. The black lines are xeroxed or inked etc., but when using paint lines on top to give the illusion of a clean border between paint colors below, the effect of "crisp lines" is so much nicer than any of the cels I've made so far. These paint lines are on all of the anime cels I've seen up to date, but when checking on the university and commercial cel kits, there is nothing to indicate how they are made, much less what the Japanese artists use to make them. Certainly, the normal paint pens are way too fat ^^; and I haven't seen and FAQs which describe them. Any clues? I'm about ready to buy a dip pen to get that effect =/ -Jey. *the clean line fanatic* X.x |
