It seems a common practice for US gallery selling
cartoon cels to say they give a certificate of
authenticity.

I saw that several time. As they were also selling
some anime cels and, except in a very very few special
cases, japanese studio don't give any certificates,
I asked them how they could. They answered me that
it's them who are doing the certificates. (They guarantee
it's authentic). I dunno how it is for US cartoon cels
and if they come with real certificate or not. But
for anime cels that make you realy wonder : those
galleries don't know anything about anime. They don't
get the cels themselve but through many 3rd parties.
They are less likely to recognize a production cel
from a copy than anybody on this forum.... :)

We always annoy me a little is when some people come
around and ask me "do your cels come with a certificate
of authenticity". They don't even seem to realize that
it's totaly worthless if you are printing the certificate
yourself without knowing where the cels is coming from.

Cheers,
Yann Stettler
