Each time I see a gallery update from you I go right
away... with a mix of anticipation and dread...

I keep on thinking: which amazing GW cel did you grab that
I didn't even see appear anywhere. It's not jealousy, it's
admiration! Your cels are gorgeous!

As for the 'background in GW are a cel layer' it's only 
true (in my experience) for scenes  inside the gundams, 
to create the viewscreen effect. (For example with 
light as I have a Duo in his Gundam where the viewscreen 
is backlit. As for the monitor readout effects, I have 
no idea if they are an extra cel of just CG. Anyone knows?)
