The price for doing a wire transfer will change from one bank to another. From what I know, it's pretty expensive in USA but as I am not living there, I never realy checked myself... Here in Switzerland, a wire transfer is the same price as a money order. The good sides of a wire transfer are : - It's quick. (a couple of day) - It's safe : both your bank and the bank that receive the money know you did it and where it went. But be careful : in many country, the bank of the person who will receive the transfer charge something. So the recipient may not receive the exact amount you sent him. (When doing the transfer, you may have an option to choose to pay all the taxes yourself). Here, in Switzerland, banks don't charge anything to receive a wire transfer. (in fact, they hate receiving checks and would like that everybody use transfer... :) Cheers, Yann Stettler |
