Re: What's the best way to scan a cel? (Sun Dec 6 12:01:34 1998

>> Should there be a white background if the cel doesn't come with one? A white background is best if there is no background included. It doesn't drown out the cel. I have seen several people desplay their cels with a terrible brightly colored background. Ack, caugh, ptooy...! >>>If I want to display a cel on a webpage, what is the best way to scan it? If you have a flat bed scanner, that would be your best bet. Whatever you do, do NOT run your cels through one of those older types of scanners that will squeeze your cel in the same manner as pasta is made... Also do NOT leave your cel on your flat bed scanner for longer than it takes to scan; they get hot and you risk damaging your cel. >>>Or should I take a picture of the cel and then scan the picture? It's quite difficult to photograph cels, as the glare caused by light bouncing off of the acetate is usually difficult for the untrained eye to see right away and is only later noticed when the finished photos come back from the lab. But you can try. Another alternative would be a digital camera that imports the picture directly into your computer. But just like a regular camera, the quality won't be as good.
