I had the same problem when I first started collecting cels and being a designer came up with the idea of designing my own backgrounds; for the reason of filling negative space in an akward cel and for cutting down the cost of framing. I use pre-cut mattes and premade frames (14x11 frame & 14x11 matte w/ 10x8 hole) Here is on example of a simple layout to help fill an empty space in the cel. http://www.mindspring.com/~aallman
