High Priced Auctions -what's the get-go? (Sun Jun 13 03:47:32 1999 )
The curious collector

As someone who will occasionally place cels for sale, I have
a question for all of you who have had cels on ebay go for
over $300. Do people actually pay?

The reason I ask this, is that in my experience, the high
bidder of cels that go for outrageous prices almost always
backs out, and I am left to contact the second highest
bidder who did want the cel.

Because of these situations, I find myself speculating
some things.

First, could it be that there are some bidders out there
that get caught up in the bidding frenzy, and wind up bidding
more than they can pay?

Second, could there be some bidders that enjoy bidding high
on cels so that the second highest bidder has to pay more?

Thrid, since the series I am having the most trouble with has
a strong following with younger people, could it be that they
bid and have no qualms about not paying? (please don't accuse me
of being stereotypical, it is mearly a speculation)

Fourth, could I just have really bad luck?

Please let me know your thoughts on this, I have ommited my
email address so that I do not single anyone out. I am
strongly considering not even bothering placing cels I
know will go for a nice amout on ebay, there are too many
kooks in the world ^_^
