Our company sells cels, and reproductions. We are scrupulously honest in our dealings (as can be seen by our positive customer feedback), and clearly indicate which are originals, and which are not. If an unscrupulous reseller cheats a customer by telling him a reproduction is an original, then that customer has recourse under law: it's called consumer fraud. However, this is a crime committed by the reseller, not the source of the reseller's reproduction. The fact that a criminal may use a reproduction to fool a customer is no justification to prohibit reproductions. However, after seeing Mr. Stettler's comments, we agree that our comment that this cel is "100134650952nique. It is hand painted ..." may not be clearly understood by some. Our intention was to clarify that by virtue of being a hand-painted cel, each cel is unique and no two cels are the same, as opposed to machine reproductions. We have revised the auction copy by adding the following statement: --------------------------------------------------------- This is not an original production cel, this is not a "Hanken" cel (original cel painted for commercial use) the quality is FAR SUPERIOR to a production cel! Since it is painted by hand, it is unique, however other copies of the same image may be available. Since they are all separately hand drawn and painted, there will be minute differences. --------------------------------------------------------- We agree that this may make it clearer to some readers, and thank Mr. Stettler for making us realize that not all readers might understand the original version. continued... |
